The latest flagships from Samsung, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ launched today in India. Focussing on the communication mode via pictures and videos, the devices feature one of the best low-light cameras in the Samsung portfolio. The cameras also offer Super Slow-mo video capabilities up to 960 fps and personalized AR Emoji. After capturing the Super Slow-mo video, users can select background music from 35 different options or add a tune from their favorite playlist. Users can also easily create, edit and share GIF files with a simple tap in three playful styles of looping to watch the action over and over again. As mentioned earlier, the highlight of the S9+ is the camera. Samsung uses dual aperture camera (F1.5 / F2.4) that automatically lets in more light when it’s dark and less light when it’s too bright, taking photos that are crisp and clear.
Another highlight of the phone is the AR emoji, much like the iPhone X it scans user face to create emojis that can be shared as a sticker or standard GIF. The emoji created from this works across major third-party messaging platform. The new updated version of the Bixby allows you to translate currencies and text in real-time.
While in terms of looks, the S9 series are no different than the predecessor S8, however the flagships now feature stereo speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos support. The devices are IP68 certified for protection against water and dust. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ support three different biometric authentication options – iris, fingerprint, and facial recognition. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also introduce Dedicated Fingerprint, giving users the option to use a different fingerprint to access Secure Folder than the one used to unlock the phone.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ feature improved optical sensor built directly into the device that provides information on users’ health status. This sensor allows the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to keep track of users’ Heart Load Factor, a new measurement of the real-time demand placed on the heart.
In terms of hardware specifications, the S9 features 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a screen ratio of 18.5:9, on the other hand, the S9+ comes with a 6.2-inch screen. Both the devices run on Android Oreo powered by 64-bit Octa-core processors. The S9 features 4GB RAM and 3000mAh battery, while the S9+ features 6GB RAM and 3500mAh battery. The storage options in both the devices are 64GB/128GB/25GB. They also accept microSD cards up to 400GB.
