SNES Mini

One way for console makers to milk from the nostalgia is to bring a remastered version of old games with updated visuals to suit the current generation graphics. This is what Sony is doing with many of their games. Nintendo, on the other hand, is bringing their classic consoles pre-loaded with select games from yesteryear. After a limited run of NES Classic Edition, Nintendo has announced Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition.

The SNES Classic Edition comes with 21 pre-installed games, two controllers and comes with an HDMI port that makes it easy to connect to modern televisions. Interestingly, the console also comes with an unreleased game – Star Fox 2, which is a sequel to the original Star Fox game that was created during the Super NES era but never released.

The console releases on September 29 for $79.99 and comes with the following games.

Contra III: The Alien Wars
Donkey Kong Country
EarthBound
Final Fantasy III
F-ZERO
Kirby Super Star
Kirby’s Dream Course
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mega Man X
Secret of Mana
Star Fox
Star Fox 2
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Castlevania IV
Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Super Punch-Out!!
