Samsung to announce a smartwatch next month

If Apple’s smartwatch launch rumours for next month weren’t enough, we’ve got Bloomberg saying Samsung will announce their iteration called Galaxy Gear next month. They’re citing two sources claiming Samsung will introduce a “wristwatch-like device named the Galaxy Gear next month that can make phone calls, surf the Web and handle e-mails” and will be unveiled alongside Galaxy Note III on September 4 at the Mobile Unpacked event.

The report also says Samsung’s offering won’t feature a flexible display despite Samsung has been quite vocal about the technology and could have been a perfect fit for such a device.

Samsung’s announcement, if happens, will trump Apple’s announcement which is rumoured for September 10.
