Sony unveils 4K Home Theatre Projector in India

Sony today announced the release of a 4K Home Theater projector for the Indian market. The projector is priced at a whopping Rs. 13,99,900 and as you’d expect, this ain’t for the average Joe but for the affluent society and corporates. The VPL-VW1000ES is touted to be the world’s first true 4K home theatre projector, which for the uninitiated means, that it can project content with up to 4096×2106 resolution. That’s 4 times more pixels than the current 1920x1080p resolution.

The projector is equipped with an SXRD 4K panel that when combined with Sony’s Iris3 technology can deliver up to 2,000 lumens of brightness and a dynamic contrast ratio of 1000000:1. Additionally, the project supports 3D content, comes with 2 pairs of active shutter 3D glasses and can upscale full HD content to 4K resolution.
