Mercury enters crowded tablet space with mTab: 1.2GHz CPU, Rs. 9499 price

The tablet market has been inundated with lots of new offerings that tend to compromise on the hardware for an affordable price tag. However, this little 7-inch device from Mercury Kobian is different. Dubbed as mTab, the highlight of the tablet is its 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 processor (no tri-core as the spec sheet states). The mTab runs on Android 2.3 OS with 512MB of RAM and features 4GB of internal memory, expandable microSD card slot up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, WVGA LCD display and 1.3MP camera. Another enticing feature is the optional 3G support that can be added with the 3G USB dongle. However, we’re not sure how the 3G function works.

mTab has an asking price of just Rs. 9,499 and it will be interesting to see how if fares as none of the affordable tablets boast a speedy processor like the mTab.
