Epson TX720WD All-in-one Photo Printer Review

May 23, 2011 By Anish 1 Comment

Epson TX720WD

Photo printers are now an essential accessory for a home user. With camera phones, featuring huge megapixels and influx of digital cameras coupled with these hi-res photo printers, it is now possible to get lab-like prints from your desktop.

Epson, one of the leaders in quality photo printing offers the fastest All-in-one (AIO) colour photo-printer from their stable, the TX720WD. Out of the box and this device is heavy in weight. Once we managed to house it on our desk, we paired the device using its Wi-Fi mode. You can connect the device to the PC using the USB port or via an Ethernet port to the network. The advantage of setting up wirelessly is that you can use the printer with other wireless devices as well.

The front of the printer houses the touch-sensitive button panel along with the 2.5inch colour LCD display and a memory card reader slot. You can print directly from the memory cards and the TX720WD supports host of them or by using PictBridge by connecting your digital camera. The flatbed scanner of the TX720WD can scan at a maximum resolution of 2400 x 4800 dpi.

With the TX720WD you can personalize your holiday photo CD by directly printing on a printable CD/DVD. The printer also has automatic duplex printing capabilities, this helps you to reduce waste and paper as you can print on both sides of the paper without any manual intervention.

With a print quality of 5760 dpi, Epson claims a speed of 40 pages per minute for both colour and black/white text and a 4x6inch photo in just 10 seconds. In real world tests, we managed to get around 36ppm of combined text and images. However, printing a photo on an A4 size photo paper took just around 33 seconds and the results were impressive. We also printed 6×4 photos on the photo paper and the results were quite impressive. The print quality of TX720WD surely gives lab quality prints. The credit goes to what Epson claims it as the Claria Photographic Ink that its individual cartridges use. The Claria technology provides smudge free and better-looking prints than lab.

Priced at Rs.13,999 this all-in-one device is one of the fastest and best photo printer. Coupled with wireless connectivity option this makes the TX720WD a likeable device for home and SOHO users.

Rating:

Pros: Print quality, fast, Wifi connectivity, CD/DVD printer, Auto duplex
Cons: Occupies more real-estate
