RIM starts BlackBerry PlayBook pre-order, reaching US and Canada on April 19

Research in Motion has announced pre-orders of its first BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. The tablet can be pre-ordered now via Best Buy who is the preferred retailer for the PlayBook in U.S. and Canada.

The Wi-Fi-only BlackBerry PlayBook will be available from April 19 in both the countries with prices starting from $499 for 16GB and going up to $699 for 64GB.

For the uninitiated, BlackBerry PlayBook is the first professional-grade tablet that comes with a 7-inch display supporting up to WSVGA display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, BlackBerry Tablet OS (QNX OS), full HD video playback, 3MP front and 5MP rear cameras capable of recording and outputting 1080p HD video, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, gyroscope and magnetometer.
