Mashed Pixel has announced a nifty gadget that will convert your iPhone to a full-fledged universal remote. Sure, there are few universal remote control solutions available for the iPhone but Mashed Pixel’s Surc is a case that takes advantage of the built-in infrared (IR) connector, which is prevalent in most of our IR-enabled consumer electronics.
The case works with the help of an app that needs to be downloaded on your iPhone. There’s no need to pair different remotes because Surc finds the appropriate remote and stores or downloads them from its database.
Surc is currently compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G but Mashed Pixel has promised to bring it for the iPad as well as the iPod touch.
It will be launched at the CES 2011 next month and is currently on pre-order for $69.95.
