So the rumor turns out to be true. Garmin and Asus won’t offer any more co-branded handsets. However, both the companies have redefined their strategy and have confirmed that future Android devices created by Asus will offer Navigation from Garmin, which in our opinion makes sense.
“We are moving from co-brand to brand cooperation, and we will use Garmin’s solutions in our new Android phones exclusively for a couple of years,” Benson Lin, general manager of Asustek’s personal mobile devices business.
For Asus, this means that their product roll out will be faster and will be at par with the competition whereas Garmin could concentrate on providing navigation solutions to other platforms like iOS and Android.
As for users with Garmin-Asus devices, fret not because Garmin has said to continue that they’ll continue to sell and support the older models.
