Toshiba develops Wipe technology for Self-Encrypting HDDs

Toshiba has announced Wipe technology for Self-Encrypting hard drives (SED). The Wipe tech adds another layer of security to SED HDDs making the encrypted data inaccessible when the drive is powered off or is removed.

Toshiba has been selling its 2.5-inch SED HDDs and with the integration of Wipe, users can rest assure about the security of their data as the drive invalidates the data by erasing the internal encryption key.

Another advantage Wipe possesses is that it also works with copiers and printers, where HDDs have become a common thing and securing them is as important as securing a computer.
