Panasonic has announced a new 12.1-inch Toughbook that endures like no other convertible tablet and is yet the lightest in its category. The Toughbook C1 is the lightest (3.2lbs with one battery and 3.7lbs with two batteries) 12.1-inch convertible tablet and features some interesting design and specs.
The notebook sports a multi-touch enabled screen, a twin hot-swappable battery design, shock mounted flex-connect HDD with quick release feature and triple hinge design (a pair for opening and closing the notebook lid whereas the third one for rotating).
Toughbook C1’s specs include 2.4GHz Core i5-520M vPro CPU with Turbo Boost, 250GB HDD, up to 6GB RAM, Windows 7 OS, Wi-Fi, dual array mic, Bluetooth and various optional hardware like webcam, 3G module, fingerprint and smartcard reader. C1 can run for up to 5 hours on a single battery but doubles the run time when hooked with another one.
On the toughness front, the C1 comes in a complete magnesium alloy casing, spill resistant keyboard, up to 30” operating drop and 225lbs pressurized vibration resistance.
Panasonic will arrive in June in United States carrying a price tag of $2499.
