Broadcom’s creation of this new mobile multimedia processor indicates the possible features expected in mobile devices in couple of years. They’ve announced the BCM2763 VideoCore IV Processor that supports recording and playback of 1080p video, picture resolution of up to 20MP with other photo processing abilities – like image stabilization, face/smile detection – and integrated HDMI output.

Despite its power packed features, Broadcom’s new chip is developed using 40nm process technology that ensures lower power consumption.

Broadcom is currently sampling the processor and handsets taking advantage of the technology are expected sometime in 2011.
