Preview: Dante’s Inferno, The Saboteur and Mass Effect 2

Dante's Inferno

Milestone Interactive, distributors of EA in India held a preview showing us few unreleased games like Dante’s Inferno, The Saboteur and Mass Effect 2. Needless to say, we got a brief hands-on on all the games to let you know what to expect from them.

Dante's Inferno

Dante’s Inferno

Starting with Dante’s Inferno, the game is based on Dante Alighieri poem, The Divine Comedy where you play the role of Dante who has to go through nine circles of Hell to bring back his lover, Beatrice.

Inferno was running on PS3’s debug unit and the moment you play the game, you’re reminded of God of War. Although the storylines are totally different, the gameplay, attacks are similar to Sony’s successful franchise.

The preview did not give us much to say anything about the gameplay, which for the fact seemed easy and intuitive but the graphic rendering was a treat. Even on an older code, the visuals seemed perfect with smooth textures and decent frame rate.

We were not told the exact shipping date but it is expected sometime in Q1 2010 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP.

The Saboteur

The Saboteur

The Saboteur is a third-person shooter, sandbox-styled game set in the 1940s during the World War II period. You play as Sean Devlin, an Irishman who is also a racer in Nazi-occupied France. As Nazi control increases in Paris taking away everything from Sean, he seeks to take revenge by acting as a saboteur and kill Nazis. Users have the liberty to roam around the whole Paris or be the saboteur by gunning down enemies and infiltrating Nazis.

The Saboteur

Unique feature The Saboteur boasts is the “Will to Fight” feature. It’s a visual style that lets you know the Nazi concentration in a particular area by turning the course of play into black and white, emphasizing on very heavy Nazi concentration or to color mode in less concentrated areas.

Saboteur didn’t look to be flawless as far as graphics were concerned but its sandbox-styled gameplay tries to compensate on what is lacking in the graphics department.

It’s releasing early next month on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2

Finally, we were hooked up with Mass Effect 2, which takes the helm from the successful Mass Effect prequel. The game’s protagonist Commander Shepard is set on the task to trace out the fall in the human population and save them from extinction.

Mass Effect 2 improves on few fronts from the original Mass Effect – improved warfare, more control in a dialogue (you can now interrupt!) and regenerating health. As far as visuals were concerned, surroundings and character animations looked more detailed.

Mass Effect 2 is scheduled for next year on PC and Xbox 360.
