Toshiba reveals 55-inch LED LCD TV powered by CELL Platform

Toshiba today unveiled a 55-inch LCD TV that sets it apart from the regular LED LCD TVs. The CELL REGZA 55X1 is powered by Cell Broadband Engine that helps to give unmatched picture quality. Coupled with the CELL Platform and Toshiba’s image-processing algorithms, the 55X1 processes images 143 times better and quicker than that of the top-of-the-line REGZA TV.

Amongst other things, the 55X1 boasts 5000000:1 contrast ratio, full HD resolution support, a 3TB drive to record TV and a high luminance of 1250cd/m2 (more than 2.5 times the level of usual TVs).

Toshiba will start selling the CELL REGZA 55X1 in Japan from the beginning of December.
