Microsoft and Marvel Enterprises Inc. have signed a licensing agreement that will see Marvel characters appear exclusively in Massively Multiplayer Online Games on the upcoming Xbox 360.
“Marvel has created some of the most iconic and exciting characters and stories in the past century. We’re thrilled to bring this universe to interactive entertainment,” said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Worldwide Marketing and Publishing for Xbox at Microsoft. “With this next generation of gaming, Marvel fans will finally have the ability to create choices with their favorite superheroes, villains and creatures in unbelievable detail — all with the power of Marvel’s incredible vision and the Xbox platform.”
Massively Multiplayer Online Games revolve around thousands of players across the world playing the same game simultaneously.
More specific info regarding the types of Marvel games being developed for the Xbox 360 will be announced in the coming months. Marvel is home to some of the most successful comic book franchises ever, including Spider-Man, X-Men and The Hulk.
