If you thought a Full HD display for a smartphone was an overkill, LG Display has taken it even further by developing the world’s first smartphone LCD panel supporting Quad HD resolution (2560×1440 pixels). The panel we see above has a size of 5.5-inches and display density of 538ppi, giving four times more pixels than a display with same size supporting 720p resolution.
The panel is based on Low Temperature Poly-Silicon (LTPS) substrate that features 430nits of brightness and is just 1.21mm thin, making it the world’s slimmest Quad HD panel.
When will we see this high resolution in a retail device is anybody’s guess but there’s a good chance we won’t see the technology till early next year.
