Whatsapp is one of the widely used messaging apps in the world and to iterate their claim, they have confirmed that their service is being used by 300m active users, including 20m from India. That’s 100m and 15m (India) more than what Line announced last month.
The active users is however, one part of the story. The company will release a new version of Whatsapp that will integrate voice messaging function. Going by the screen shot, the implementation seems similar to what we see on Wechat but it will be interesting to see the feature’s effect on the performance of the device since Wechat made some devices laggy.
Whatsapp plans to release the new version in a day or two on all available platforms.
