720p HD displays are talk of the industry at the moment but LG Display has developed a new panel that will bring the full 1080p HD experience to handheld devices. LG Display has created 5-inch full HD LCD panel that is based on AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) and achieves a pixel density of 440ppi, which according to LG is 2.2 times denser in pixels and 1.3 times more advanced in ppi compared to a 3.5-inch display with 1280×720 display.
LG Display expects to release the panel sometime in the second half of this year and will showcase it at SID 2012 in Boston next week.
