Looks like HTC is following the footsteps of Apple and Samsung to develop in-house processors for the devices. An article by China Times claims HTC has entered into a partnership with ST-Ericsson to co-develop the chip.
But unlike the other two companies, HTC developed chips will be used in low-end smartphones, which maybe to increase the profitability in the lower-end of the segment.
HTC plans to release the phones with the new chip sometime in 2013.
