Sony at an event yesterday showcased its complete VAIO laptop range for the Indian market. Sony sells a whopping 62 variants amongst four VAIO series — S, C, E & Y that are targeted at different set of consumers. For the uninitiated, VAIO Y is targeted at the first-time and budget-minded laptop buyers that offers decent functionality at an affordable price. VAIO E ups the ante from Y Series that does regular tasks with ease like light to moderate web browsing, watching movies, music etc. VAIO C on the other hand goes for the crowd who demand aesthetics and performance whereas the top-end VAIO S boasts portability, performance and a premium design. The complete VAIO range starts from a modest Rs. 24,990 and goes up to Rs. 1,29,900.
Sony also highlighted its aggressive expansion plan that will allow them to double their annual sales to 5 lakh units from 2.5 lakh in previous year. To fulfill their goal Sony will double their distribution network to 1500 in FY11 from 800 in FY10 and will also open exclusive VAIO stores taking the total shop counts to 50.
