Mobile India

Well, here it is. After a series of delays Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has been launched in Haryana. Starting today, subscribers in Haryana will be able to change their cellular operators without needing to change their phone number. Consumers can easily change their operator by sending a message “Port ” to 1900 to receive their unique porting code. This number along with a porting charge of Rs.19 needs to be submitted with the application for the new service operator.

As for the rest of India, Telecom ministry has confirmed to launch the service on January 20, 2011 after operators successfully migrate their network to support MNP infrastructure.
