Panasonic has confirmed to Reuters that they’ll be jumping in the Android bandwagon from next year. Japan will be the first country to receive it whereas other markets will get it from 2012. The Japanese phone maker acknowledged that although they’re late to the party, Panasonic can distinguish their products by bringing some sort of network integration with other Panasonic products.
“We misjudged the speed at which smartphones would be taken up in the Japanese market. With the rapid shift to Android, we want to catch up quickly,” said Osamu Waki, head of the company’s mobile communications unit.
Panasonic’s Android offerings will compete with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy S and Apple iPhone 4 in the Japanese market.
