Samsung has announced a new 512GB SSD that employs toggle-mode DDR NAND helping high-end notebooks to achieve greater performance and reliability. The toggle-mode DDR structure coupled with SATA 3.0Gbps interface gains a max. sequential read speed of 250MB/s and read speed to up to 220MB/s, which is three times faster than conventional HDDs or can copy two 4GB DVDs in under a minute.
Furthermore, Samsung has developed a low-power controller for toggle-mode DDR that increases performance without increasing power consumption and continuously monitors user’s frequency of use to automatically enable low-power mode, extending notebook’s battery life.
The 512GB SSD uses 30nm 32Gb chip and comes with 256-bit AES encryption, Windows 7 TRIM support.
Mass production of the 512GB SSDs will start from next month.
