Samsung has announced a new SSD series that will enable consumers to enjoy faster data transfer speeds. Clad in a premium brushed aluminum enclosure, the 830 Series SSD supports SATA 6Gb/s interface that makes it two times faster than Samsung’s current top-end 470 Series SSD. With the new interface, the 830 Series SSD can reach a speed of up to 550MB/s (read) and 300MB/s (write).

Additionally, to allow a seamless upgrade, the new SSDs will also be sold in an upgrade kit that will come with a copy of Norton Ghost, a bracket to install SSD in a desktop and the requisite cables.

Samsung will reveal the price of the SSDs closer to its October launch.
