Nintendo loaded their pockets with lots of green paper with their Wii gaming console. However, with the annual fiscal report out today it looks like the Wii juggernaut is slowing down. Of course, there’s aggressive competition from other consoles but Wii’s slowing down of sales can be contributed to its lack of exciting game portfolio.
For the fiscal year ending March 2009, Nintendo sold only 25.95m Wii units, which is impressive but in perspective of the previous year, it’s a 21% drop.
Nintendo’s portable gaming machine also suffered but less than Wii. The DS family sales were down only 12% to 27m units from the previous 31m.
