UPDATE: LG has ‘officially’ announced it today and set the price to Rs. 16,490.
Android devices are generally launched with some fanfare but LG has quietly rolled out its first ever Android phone, GW620 in India. The phone will go at a modest price tag of Rs. 18,990 but the deal breaker here is that it runs on Android 1.5 (Cupcake). Sure, it’s on the inexpensive side but with Galaxy Spica (with Android 2.1) and HTC Tattoo with Sense UI priced lower than that, LG will have to make an effort to sell their S-Class toting babies.
Nonetheless, it features a full physical sliding QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3-inch touchscreen and social networks friendly.
