Sports fans jump, yell at the top of their voices and though it helps to motivate the supporting team, it generally is the lost energy as far as fans are concerned. But a Japanese stadium is trying to put that waste energy to some good use – by generating power. A football match between J1 division teams Vissel Kobe and Kyoto Sanga was used as a test bed where the stadium authorities put 1.6 sq. meter pads beneath 12 fans’ seats. This pad helped to generated that was due to vibrations of cheering fans.
The power generated was expectedly low at 8400 watt seconds but stadium believes they can increase the generation in installing panels to different areas of the stadium.
