Apple has announced that they’ve filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringement of 20 Apple-owned patents. The lawsuit has been filed simultaneously with U.S. ITC and U.S. District Court and claims HTC infringing on iPhone patents related to UI, underlying architecture and hardware.

Steve Jobs’ jab at HTC reads as follows:

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

It will be interesting to see HTC’s move but for now, it seems countersuing Apple is on the cards.
