Apple Countersues Nokia

The title says it all. Apple has retaliated to the lawsuit filed by Nokia by countersuing them. Apple claims Nokia is infringing on 13 of Apple-owned patents.

“Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours,” said Bruce Sewell, Apple’s General Counsel and senior vice president.

In October, Nokia had sued Apple for infringing its patents related to wireless data, security, speech coding and encryption. At that time, Nokia said Apple is “attempting to get a free ride on Nokia’s innovation.” I guess Nokia didn’t expect a reply as straight as Bruce’s.
