When Nokia confirmed that they’re remaining committed to Symbian, everyone was surprised as to why is the world’s biggest handset maker clung to the aging Symbian instead of Maemo? Well, here’s their answer – a refreshing UI to make the OS as competitive as others in the market.
The first phone with the new UI is expected next year and if it delivers as we see it now, Symbian can definitely pull themselves back in the race. Amongst improvements and additions, the new UI will add multitouch support on larger-sized capacitive displays, improve the browser, reduce unnecessary notifications and steps to execute a function and increase the scrolling to 60fps from the present 15fps. Overall the whole UI will be 3 times faster than what we currently use.
