Fujitsu and Willcom’s co-jointly developed security solution will soon be seen in Lifebook FMV-S8930. Dubbed as CLEARSURE, the security solution allows users to lock the PC or delete the data on the HDD remotely in case of a theft or loss. To make it work, a user needs to access Fujitsu’s control server and send the required command over Willcom’s PHS network as CLEARSURE uses the same. However, the notebook must be in the PHS range to execute remote wipe-off successfully. The notebook comes with a year of CLEARSURE service which can be extended up to 5 years.
As for other features, FMV-S8930 features a 13.3-inch display, Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz) or Celeron 900 (2.20GHz) CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB encrypted HDD, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Vista Business OS.
The notebook will be available from late September at a starting price of 216,000 Yen (US$2300).
