Toshiba has announced that they have applied to become a member of the Blu-Ray Disc Association (BDA), effectively proving the previous rumor true. Though there’s no mention on the products yet, Toshiba has assured to launch BD players, notebooks equipped with BD drives by the end of this year.

Toshiba’s association with Blu-ray has been long due since they abandoned Blu-ray’s rival format, HD DVD early last year.
