Intel has delivered the industry’s first Solid State Drives (SSDs) based on 34nm manufacturing process. The 34nm based SSDs is superior to 50nm variant and boasts advantages like drop-in compatibility, latency reduction by 25 percent and faster random write Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) which is now up to 6,600 and 35,000 for write and read IOPS.
Intel will initially be selling 2.5-inch 80 and 160GB X25-M SSDs pegged at $225 and $440 for up to 1000 units. 1.8-inch X18-M SSDs will start shipping later this quarter.
