LG Electronics have proudly announced that their budget touchscreen phone, Cookie (KP500) has crossed an important milestone today. More than 5 million units have been sold since it was launched in over 60 countries in November 2008. This makes Cookie as the fastest selling LG device that equates to selling up to 19,000 units each day, 791 units per hour or 9 per minute.

Needless to say LG’s looking to reach the next milestone as soon as possible. “If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile.

It will be interesting to see who reaches the 10m units first because Samsung has also vowed to achieve the same with S5230 by the end of this year.
