Nintendo has announced a firmware update to its Wii console. The new update moves to version 3.4 that promises to give USB keyboard support in Mii channel, Enhanced parental controls, improved disc read speed and better read/write speed for SD cards. However, Nintendo’s cunning mind has also decided to pull the plug off the homebrew channel. As Wiibrew points out, Nintendo has closed the Twilight Hack which means new users interested in homebrew won’t be able to install it. The Twilight Hack was used on unmodded Wiis to install the Homebrew channel. Users will already installed HBC need not worry as the Homebrew channel is unaffected.

As a safe recommendation to all homebrewers: Do not update your system until the homebrew team finds out a solution to exploit this firmware.
