Xiaomi launched the Mi Play smartphone in China. The phone is powered by MediaTek P35 processor with a clock speed of 2.3GHz. The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The highlight of the phone is that Xiaomi bundles a free SIM card with the phone that offers free and unlimited data, that is 10GB 4G speed data every month for a year. This is thanks to the MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) license that Xiaomi got after participating in the nationwide MVNO trial program for three years in China.

The camera at the rear is a dual-camera with a 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel AI lens. The front camera is 8-megapixel that supports AI functions like Beautify and Portrait mode. The Mi Play comes with a 5.84-inch FHD+ screen and has a 19:9 aspect ratio. The fingerprint sensor is at the rear, the phone features 3000mAh battery. Mi Play supports dual SIM card and also has a dedicated microSD card slot.

At the launch event, Xiaomi broke a Guinness World Record by erecting an 8-meter-tall, Christmas tree-shaped mobile phone mosaic that was made of 1,005 Mi Play smartphones. The price of Mi Play in China is around Rs. 12,000 (1099 RMB).
