Apple has confirmed the release date of HomePod, its first wireless speaker with Siri support. According to Apple, customers in US, UK and Australia will get their hands on the device from February 9 with pre-orders beginning this Friday. France and Germany will also get the speaker later this spring.
The HomePod is priced at $349 and is pretty similar in functionality to Amazon’s Echo Plus but will stay and work under Apple’s ecosystem. In short, the HomePod will be able to play music from Apple Music, interact with Siri and even control HomeKit-enabled devices.
At launch, multi-room and stereo pair won’t work but will be enabled later this year after a software update.
