Mi Qicycle from Xiaomi is an electric bike that runs on Panasonic 18650 20 x 2900mAh lithium-ion battery cells. Xiaomi claims that the same battery is used by Tesla. The bike can go up to 45 kms on a single charge. Once you run out of juice, you can pedal your way to the destination with the help of Shimano gear shifters. The bike also provides real-time information like speed, distance, power, dynamic power and calories consumed.
Qicycle is not an ordinary bicycle. It’s an electric folding bike with an integrated electric motor which can be used for propulsion. Qicycle is powered by 250W 36V electric motor and uses Torque Measurement Method (TMM) to assist the rider’s pedal-power. Torque Measurement Method (TMM) is invented by IDbike B.V.
The Qicycle has won the Red Dot design 2016 award and is made of carbon fiber, loaded with sensors weighing only 7kgs. The pricing of this bike is approximately Rs.31,000. We cannot say if this would be launched in India, but yes we do believe that India will be a good market to launch the same.
