The affordable smartphone market is heating up once again with the announcement of Xiaomi’s Redmi 2 smartphone. Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S successor will take on the Lenovo A6000 and the Moto E (2015) from March 24 carrying a price tag of Rs. 6,999.
If you compare the Redmi 2 with the Redmi 1S, the new phone is 15g lighter, is more compact and has a 1mm narrow bezel. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM, 4G LTE support for both the SIMs, 4.7-inch 1280×720 HD display with AGC Dragontrail glass, 8 megapixel camera, front-facing 2 megapixel camera, 2200mAh battery, OTG support, microSD card slot and MIUI 6 OS based on Android 4.4.
The Redmi 2 that Xiaomi will sell in India features 8GB internal memory but Xiaomi plans to launch “limited edition” Redmi 2 with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.
Users can now register their interest for the sale that will happen on March 24.
