Google is yet to release OTA updates for its consumer devices but they’ve released the latest Android OS’ source code in AOSP. Source code availability means devs can start tinkering with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) to develop and release ROMs for devices.
As for the Android 4.1 release, it is expected to hit Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom in mid-July.
“We’re releasing Android 4.1 in AOSP today. The name of the tagged release is android-4.1.1_r1. The name of the development branch is jb-dev. We recommend that you create new clients, even if you’re working in the master branch. It’ll make your clients smaller and faster to sync.”
