Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab 8.9, revamps Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung has announced the world’s thinnest tablets at the ongoing CTIA expo in Orlando, Florida. First up is the expected one – an 8.9-inch one dubbed as Galaxy Tab 8.9. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is just 8.6mm thick but packs in a lot of power with a 1GHz dual-core application processor, HSPA+ 21Mbps, 3MP camera rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera, WXGA (1280×800) resolution support, full HD video playback, 720p HD video recording, Gyroscope, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memory, microSD card slot up to 32GB, 6000mAh battery and TouchWiz UI.

Samsung also revealed Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is kind of a surprise since they already revealed at the MWC last month. The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been revamped to a slim design, which now has a thickness same as Galaxy Tab 8.9 and features a 1GHz dual-core AP, 10.1-inch WXGA display, TouchWiz UI, 3MP camera, 2MP front-facing camera, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, gyroscope, microSD card slot, up to 64GB internal memory and 6800mAh battery.

Samsung also confirmed pricing of Wi-Fi-only variants of these Galaxy Tabs. Consumers in US can expect the Galaxy Tab 10.1 on June 8 for $499 (16GB), $599 (32GB) whereas the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will arrive in early summer for $469 (16GB) and $499 (32GB).
