Nintendo Wii and DS coming soon to India

September 16, 2008 By Kunal Gangar 5 Comments

UPDATE: It turns out to be fake. The distributor’s website has gone kaput.

You may question the authenticity of a website with a domain name like this and bearing semi-professional design but it is indeed true that these guys are the official distributors of Wii and DS in India. Samurai Games India has cracked up a deal with Nintendo to import NTSC-U Wii and sell it over here. What does NTSC version got to do in a PAL region? We would blame on the games. The gray market have been selling the NTSC-U Wii since it was launched in US and to compensate those users and increase game sales, Samurai will be selling the NTSC-U Wiis bundled with Wii Sports and a 220V adapter.

Their own website claims to be stealthily importing the units to India and HCL will be handling the distribution department. Scheduled to come on September 30, the Wii will sell for Rs. 19,990 ($426) and DS for Rs. 7,990 ($170). And we’re sorry for US Wii gamers because to suffice our gaming needs, you may have to face shortages this holiday season…again.
