Seiko Epson has developed a super thin fingerprint sensor which can read fingerprint from the electric currents coming from the user’s fingertip. This fingerprint sensor is so thin (just 0.2mm in thickness) and small that it can be incorporated with anything. Seiko suggests that this sensor could be used in credit cards with an on card processor authenticating the fingerprint with the original one stored in the memory. The sensor will be commercialized by 2010.
