Well, there’s not much left to reveal after the pre-release video and a review but if you are looking for an official acknowledgement – Sony has announced it and it’s releasing next week globally. The new PS4 (CUH-2000 series) will sell in Japan, North America and Europe from September 15 for 29,980 yen, $299 USD, €299 and £259.
The new PS4 offers similar processing and graphic performance compared to the earlier models but Sony has changed the internal architecture to reduce its volume by 30 percent and weight by up to 25 percent. Interestingly, power consumption has also been reduced to 34 and 28 percent compared to the first (CUH-1000 series) and current (CUH-1200 series) models.
The new PS4 model also supports HDR, which will immensely improve gaming performance when used with an HDR-equipped TV.
