Google generally holds off till Google I/O to reveal its next version of Android but here it is – a “work in progress” build of the upcoming Android N. Google reckons releasing the build early will help them gather the required developer feedback and even allow the devs to make their apps compatible with the version. Also, add to the fact that less bugs and troubleshooting means faster release of the final build to phone manufacturers.
While Android N comes with some new features, Google is highlighting some of them that will make way in the Android N version. Android N will feature multi-window functionality along with picture-in-picture, if need be. Moreover, Android N comes with improved Java 8 support, improved Doze support, bundled notifications and direct reply notifications.
The N Developer Preview is available now to try out on Android emulator and select devices and if you want to try it out right, Google is making it easier by allowing you to update the supported device with the N build through OTA. Visit the link below if you want to update it via OTA.
