Shortly after a global announcement last week, BlackBerry has announced the Passport flagship phone for Indian consumers. The phone is clearly inspired by an actual passport that is touted to be the “universal symbol of mobility”. The BlackBerry Passport has a 4.5-inch display (1440×1440) that has a 453 dpi, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 13 megapixel camera with OIS function, BlackBerry Natural Sound with quad mic system, 32GB internal memory and 3450mAh battery.
The phone runs BlackBerry OS 10.3 out of the box and brings in improved support for Android apps through Amazon Appstore and boasts a physical QWERTY keyboard that also doubles up as a trackpad area to perform gestures, scrolling etc.
BlackBerry Passport will sell for Rs. 49,990 and will be on pre-order today at Amazon India for Rs. 5,000. Consumers pre-ordering the device will also get 5,000 Jet Airways miles.
