At an event today, Sony officially announced the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones in India. The new flagship phones follow the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 Compact just after six months with improved design, hardware and better software integration. The 7.3mm Xperia Z3 has a revamped rounded aluminium frame design that makes it more durable than the previous generation Xperia phone and weighs in just over 150 grams. The Xperia Z3 Compact on the other hand is 8.6mm thin and weighs 129 grams.
The Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact boasts similar specs like Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 3GB RAM, 4G LTE support, 20.7 megapixel camera with 25mm wide-angle lens, 4K video recording support and certified with IP65/68 standards.
The biggest difference between both these devices is the display, which is 5.2-inch with Full HD resolution in case of Xperia Z3 and just 4.6-inch 720p HD for the Z3 Compact. The battery capacity is also different that features a 3100mAh in the Xperia Z3 and 2600mAh battery with Xperia Z3 Compact.
We played briefly with the devices and though our initial impression has been positive, we feel we should reserve our final judgement for a detailed review.
The Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are selling in India for Rs. 51,990 and Rs. 44,990 respectively.
