A Nokia branded phone running Android OS may seem farfetched but it certainly is not, if you believe the recently leaked pictures. A picture as published on Chinese social networking website – Weibo that shows the Nokia device running Android with a custom user interface.
The Finnish giant is apparently testing it for a low-cost smartphone codenamed Normandy and will use a forked version of Android to bring its own customisations. While it’s uncertain if the project will ever reach the consumers, The Verge reports that Nokia started working on this device before Microsoft acquired Nokia’s device business.
With Microsoft expecting to complete the transaction this year, the chances of a Nokia-branded Android device looks slim but it could be a reality if Nokia plans to go ahead before the completion of the acquisition. We can dream, right?
