The widely anticipated BBM never made it to consumers (barring some iOS users) this weekend and Andrew Bocking, head of BBM at BlackBerry has come back with more bad news. After confirming to delay the app launch, Bocking says he does “not anticipate launching [BBM] this week”.
The head of BBM also put blame on the leaked unreleased version of the Android that caused “volumes of data traffic orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user and impacted the system in abnormal ways”.
Moreover, Bocking claims BlackBerry has been working on the issues caused by the leaked app and the only way to solve it is by completely blocking this unreleased version of the Android app.
While he hasn’t shed any light on the probable release date but signed off saying it “will take some time”.
