Nikon today introduced the Nikon 1 AW1 camera that can withstand extreme weather conditions. Nikon claims AW1 to be the world’s first interchangeable lens camera that is waterproof (up to 49 feet), shockproof (up to 6.6 feet) and freezeproof (up to 14oF). As for the camera, it features a 14.2-megapixel CX-format CMOS sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED 3A image processing engine, ISO range up to 6400 and Advanced Hybrid Autofocus (AF) system with 73-point AF array.
Furthermore, the camera will shoot full HD videos, brings full manual mode, variety of scene modes, special underwater mode and will have Wi-Fi to share images wirelessly and GPS to geo-tag images.
The Nikon 1 AW1 will be available with the 1 NIKKOR AW 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens in Octoboer for $800 while the two-lens kit with the 1 NIKKOR AW 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 and 1 NIKKOR AW 10mm f/2.8 lenses will sell for $999.95.
